We placed 7 new Automated External Defibrillators in service today. These units were funded by an Assistance to Firefighters Grant through DHS/FEMA. With the current unit we own and these new units, we will now have an AED on every fire apparatus and will be able to treat a sudden cardiac arrest situation with any apparatus we have. This grant also provided 5 Basic Life Support kits to increase our current equipment to allow us to have an EMS kit on every apparatus as well. The grant also provided us a complete training library. This grant was a cost share grant with DHS/FEMA providing 95% of the cost ($31,103) and us providing 5% of the cost ($1,636.)
