These are the projects in planning for the Potosi VFD.

Additional Fire Station:                  Updated Information
We are out of room at our current fire station.  We have zero room for expansion and no facilities adequate for meetings and classroom training sessions.  We are looking to build a new fire station around the area the water tower along FM 1750.  Currently, one Tanker and our service trailer must sit outside due to the lack of room inside our current station.  This new station will have enough room to house all our tucks as well as room for expansion.  It will also have meeting / classroom facilities to help improve our training program.

Additional Brush Fire Truck:        Vehicle Acquired
We have placed into service an additional brush truck thanks to both a donation of a chassis as well as a monetary donation to outfit the chassis.

Communications:                            Updated Information
We have upgraded our handheld radios used on fire scenes and have upgraded the mobile radios in our trucks in the last couple of years.  Each member of our department carries a pager to alert them of an emergency.  We have recieved 5 new pagers from our Taylor County Budget allotment and will be receving 12 more in Spring of 2010.  We have also purchased 5 new handheld radios this year.  We still need significant financial resources to replace our repeater, antenna, and additional radios to comply with new federal requlations beginning in 2013.  We are persuing a grant through the Big Country Firefighter's Associaton and FEMA to help fund this request.

EMS First Responder Vehicle:        Vehicle Acquired
We have acuired a 2000 Ford Expedition to serve as our EMS first responder vehicle.  This type of vehicle will be much more fuel efficient than our fire engine that we currently use to respond to medical emergencies with.  This fuel savings will allow your donations to go farther and do more.  We are in the process of installing emergency equipment and placing identifying decals on the vehicle to get it in service.
